Is Pangolin Pages free?
Yes — completely free to use. There's nothing to buy from us and no subscription. When you choose to buy a book, that purchase happens on a third-party shop (like Amazon or Waterstones), on their terms.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up and no login. You can start searching straight away.
Where is my data stored?
Your wish list, your passport stamps, your region setting, and any reviews you post are saved in your browser, on your device. They stay between visits on that device, but they don't sync across devices, and we don't keep them on a server.
Do you track me or sell my data?
We don't sell anything about you, and we don't collect your personal data on our own servers. We offer optional Google Analytics, which only runs if you accept the cookie banner — decline and no analytics cookies are set. A few other third parties help the site work: book searches go to the Open Library, and Buy links take you to retailers. See our Privacy Policy for the detail.
Do you earn a commission on the Buy links?
On Amazon we do. Nomad Latitudes Limited is an Amazon Associate, so if you buy after following an Amazon link we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — As an Amazon Associate, Nomad Latitudes Limited earns from qualifying purchases. Our other bookshop links (Waterstones, Bookshop.org) are currently plain search links. Commissions help keep Pangolin Pages free; they never change which books we recommend.
Why won't the barcode scanner open on my phone?
Live barcode scanning uses a browser feature that works on Chrome and Edge and on Android, but not on iPhone/Safari or Firefox. On those, use the manual entry in the scan window — it works everywhere.
Does 'Locate me' track my location in the background?
No. Location is only read the moment you tap Locate me, and only to find destinations near you. It isn't stored or sent to us, and nothing runs in the background.
Can I use it offline?
Your saved lists, passport, and the hand-picked books work offline. The live 'more books' search, barcode lookups, and cover images need an internet connection.
How do I add it to my phone's home screen?
Open the app in your phone browser, then use the browser menu: on iPhone, Share ▸ Add to Home Screen; on Android Chrome, ⋮ ▸ Add to Home screen.
Where do the book descriptions come from?
The curated picks and their notes are written by us. The larger 'more books set in…' lists come live from the Open Library, a free community catalog, and are reader-tagged rather than hand-checked.
How do I clear my saved books?
Open the app's settings (the gear icon) and choose Reset my library. That clears your wish list and passport stamps from this device.
